FAMILY-STYLE ITALIAN RESTAURANT NOW OPEN AT PEARL RIVER RESORT
Remo’s is a Throwback Inspired by Italian Neighborhoods in The Bronx and Chicago
...continue
CHOCTAW, Miss. (July 9, 2008) – Pearl River Resort announces the opening of Remo’s, a family-style Italian restaurant evoking a 1940s charm and mixing nostalgia with fine Italian cuisine. Remo’s is currently open to the public.
“Remo’s is the first of many resort upgrades,” said Tribal Miko (Chief) Beasley Denson. “Earlier this week, we announced our agreement with Morgan Freeman to bring in Ground Zero Blues Club and our new steakhouse, Miko, will open July 11 during the Choctaw Fair. It’s just the beginning, as many other enhancements are in various planning stages.”
Inspired by the charmingly cluttered walls of restaurants in Italian neighborhoods in The Bronx, Chicago and other major cities, Remo’s exterior window is filled with photos of famous Italian Americans – actors, singers, prizefighters and baseball players from the ’40s to present day that represent a “who’s who” in Italian-American history.
“We’ve painstakingly created a dining experience you won’t soon forget,” said resort Chief Operating Officer Dale Hipsh. “It’s Italian, through and through.”
The fare is traditional, featuring old Italian favorites such as eggplant parmesan, homestyle lasagna, shrimp scampi and rigatoni and sausage in spicy tomato sauce. Appetizers include a family-portion salad tossed right at the table and an antipasto with cured meats, cheeses and marinated vegetables.
Showcasing another Little Italy tradition – outside dining in a bustling urban environment – guests at Remo’s can choose whether to sit “inside” or “outside.” The back half of the restaurant creates the illusion of backyard seating where guests can dine outdoors under a starry sky and festival lights. The front half of the restaurant features a large bar and dining booths. The music fits the atmosphere with crooners like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Dean Martin singing in the background.
The master concept for Remo’s was developed for Pearl River Resort by cb5 Restaurant Group, LLC, a nationally known boutique restaurant concept firm retained by Pearl River Resort. Cb5 enlisted KTP Design Group, Inc., an interior design firm in the Los Angeles area, to create the interior design for Remo’s.

PEARL RIVER RESORTS OPENS NEW RESTAURANT IN TIME FOR THE SUMMER SEASON
Authentic Choctaw Culture Features Prominently in Restaurant Design
...continue
CHOCTAW, Miss. (May 21, 2008) There’s a whole new beginning of bold spirited dining happening at the Pearl River Resort, starting with the opening of a new steak and seafood specialty restaurant named MIKO (Choctaw for Chief). The new restaurant will feature a hardwood fired grill searing 28-day aged prime beef, accompanied by a half-million dollar vintage wine collection.
“We are all very excited about the opening of MIKO,” said General Paul Harvey, president and chief executive officer for Pearl River Resort. “Our guests will be treated to some of the best dining and regional seafood in the area, with a focus on fine service and the freshest ingredients.”
A goal with this new space is to introduce the Choctaw heritage in an upscale and elegant manner. The color scheme of the restaurant is drawn from the coloration found in traditional Choctaw baskets. Visitors will notice that many of the shapes in the restaurant, although subtle, echo actual Choctaw motifs - in fabrics, lighting fixtures and even wall coverings. Additionally, authentic beads originally used to create ceremonial collar necklaces –form a shimmering bar in the lounge. The entire effect of the design could be called “Choctaw chic.”
Staples on the menu will include hand-trimmed, prime steaks; including a bone in Kansas City strip, Porterhouse for two, as well as filet mignon and New York strip. Also featured is the MIKO Raw Bar; a selection of oysters and clams on the half shell, new Orleans style shrimp, king crab legs, Maine lobster and salmon tartar. Steakhouse favorites such as the wedge and tomato and onion salads get an updated treatment through heirloom ingredients and specialty farm produce.
MIKO is scheduled to open in July.
The master concept for MIKO was developed for Pearl River Resort by cb5 Restaurant Group, LLC, a nationally known boutique restaurant concept firm retained by Pearl River Resort. Cb5 enlisted KTP Design Group, Inc., an interior design firm in the Los Angeles area, to create the interior design for MIKO.
